DESCRIPTION
In 2015, I spent four days at the FIAT Lingotto car factory in Turin, which was built by Matté Trucco between 1916 and 1923 and transformed by Renzo Piano between 1991 and 2003. This round-the-clock stay led to an intensive examination of the increasingly familiar building.
My focus was on the roof landscape, the facades, the building structure, and the ramp systems. The adaptability of the former industrial building was also of great interest. In addition to a hotel, it now also houses a museum, a university, and a shopping center. (Fawad Kazi)
